This song is from Hillsong in their album called Mighty to Save. It's a great song. I decided to cover this because it's the very first song I've ever learned since I found a church near our place. This song is composed of heavily guitar driven parts, hip drumming, and massive lyrics... I want to share to you guys of me as a guitarist. I'm an aggresive guitarist. I mean, I go play with energy and skill. I jump in praising, shouting Jesus' name, etc.. Psalms 3:33 says, "Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts." One question that came into my mind, "What does it mean to play skillfully?" I asked one of my buddies in school who also plays guitar. I asked him how to play skillfully. He said, "Shredding, playing wicked licks, and showing off!" After that, I read a blog about it. The Bible tells us so that we are to play skillfully. What the Bible really is saying that we, Christian guitarist, should play in a decent way. You might say that playing decently is to be like Slash of Guns and Roses or play like Steve Vai. What I am trying to say is making a pleasing sound to the congregation. Making them feel to worship God with all their heart, mind and soul by playing simple chords and triads. I found out to myself that it is amazing to hear such pleasing sound from it. It is more refreshing to hear. Speaking of refreshing, our job is to refresh the congregation's hearts for the Lord. Playing skillfully doesn't really mean playing someone like Slash. Don't get me wrong of making Slash or any famous guitarist an example. Actually, I learned from these guys! :) So guys, let's get to the point. Make music that will touch and open their hearts for our Almighty God. God bless all!
